Dr. Florian Tomini
Dr. Florian Tomini is currently working as a Health Economist at Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Medical Technology Assessment, Maastricht University Clinical Center (Netherlands). Dr. F. Tomini holds a PhD in Public Policy Analysis from Maastricht University (The Netherlands). He has studied Business Management at Faculty of Economics, University of Tirana, (Albania) and also graduated with a Master’s degree in Social Protection Financing from Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Maastricht University (Netherlands). During his academic career Dr. F. Tomini has held several teaching positions. He has taught Health Economics courses at Maastricht University (Faculty of Health Medicine and Life Sciences) and also Statistics for Economics and Management at University of Tirana (Albania).
Prior to his current position, Dr. F. Tomini has held various academic positions at Maastricht University and Tirana University (Albania). As a professional, he has worked during 2002-2005 for The World Bank (Human Development Sector). His job involved the supervision of the implementation of The World Bank investment projects as well as budgetary support policy loans (PRSPs). During this time Florian has played a key role in the preparation of the economic reports for health, social, and education sectors. He has been working as Short Term Consultant on several occasions for the World Bank and has been involved in policy reforming of the social protection and health sectors in Albania. Lately, Dr. F. Tomini is part of the Evidence Review Group (Kleijnen Systematic Reviews -Maastricht University) in assessing medical technology submissions for Institute for National Institute for Clinical Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in UK.
Florian’s current research interests include: Health Economics, Medical Technology Assessment, Social Protection Financing and Public Policy Analysis. His research has been published in international refereed journals as well as in working papers and official reports.
